Misdemeanor Probation Program
Community supervision for misdemeanor offenders.
The Misdemeanor Probation Program (MPP) provides services and supervision for clients sentenced by local General Sessions and Criminal Courts for various misdemeanor offenses. Programs and services are designed to divert convicted misdemeanor offenders from incarceration through supervision and structured rehabilitative services in the community.
Services we provide
- Supervision — trained case officers supervise offenders to ensure compliance with probation rules and orders from the court.
- Monitoring — court costs, fines, and restitution are monitored by MPP staff.
- Domestic Violence Programs — facilitator-led group education and interaction for clients referred by the court, including Domestic Violence, Anger Management, and the Batterer's Intervention Program (BIPS) certified with the Tennessee Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence.
- Contracted DUI and Defensive Driving Schools — state-required classes for offenders working toward driver's license compliance. Learn more →
- Referral sources — General Sessions and Criminal Court judges, the District Attorney's office, and other correctional agencies.
- Funding — client fees only. No taxpayer dollars.
Alternative Community Corrections Program
Intensive supervision for non-violent felony offenders.
The Alternative Community Corrections Program (ACCP) is designed to divert convicted felony offenders from incarceration through intensive supervision and structured rehabilitative services. We work with non-violent felony offenders who require intensive intervention and supervision to develop the social skills required to function within society.
Services we provide
- Intensive supervision — each offender is placed on a systematic regime of home, employment, and office visits.
- Drug screening — each offender is required to maintain clean drug/alcohol screens throughout placement.
- Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT) — an intensive 12-step program focused on life adjustments and restructuring moral decision-making.
- MRT Relapse Prevention — a 10-step program focused on warning signs of relapse and tools to combat relapse issues.
- MRT Support Groups — open-ended discussion and support groups for program graduates.
- Community Service Work — each offender provides on average 240 hours of community service through local non-profit agencies.
- Referral sources — Tennessee Board of Probation and Parole, local courts, the DA's office, and community-based correctional agencies.
- Funding — Tennessee Department of Corrections and client fees.
