Senior Employment Program.

Paid training and on-ramps back to the workforce for low-income adults 55 and older. Federally funded under SCSEP.

FTHRA's Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) is a federally-funded training program that assists low-income, unemployed seniors in gaining viable job skills through paid training at various non-profit and government agencies.

SCSEP is operated under a U.S. Department of Labor grant and in cooperation with The Center for Workforce Inclusion. Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities.

Qualifications

  • Must be aged 55 or older
  • Must live in one of the following counties: Carter, Greene, Hancock, Hawkins, Johnson, Sullivan, Unicoi, or Washington
  • Must be unemployed and actively seeking employment (visit jobs4tn.gov to register for employment services prior to contacting us if possible)
  • Must meet the federal income guidelines established by the Department of Labor

What participants receive

  • Individual Employment Plan (IEP) developed by staff to address barriers participants may have for employment
  • Paid minimum wage ($7.25/hr) for approximately 20 hours a week
  • Work experience through various community service projects
  • Job search skills, interviewing skills, résumé creation, and additional training
